We have individuals coming to us daily seeking advice about their disability claims. They often find themselves perusing our website beforehand. At this inquiry stage, many get confused between two of our most performed services. Today I’ll be helping with that confusion by answering this question. What is the difference between a Free Consultation and a Free Case Review? Aren’t they the same thing?
In short, the answer is no. They are two completely different services. In fact, one leads to the other. Without first completing a Free Consultation, our support team can’t determine if we can offer you the Free Case Review service yet.
We understand there can be fear or hesitation before you give us a call. This is even worse if you aren’t sure what the services entail. This is why I’m giving you a better breakdown of exactly what to expect. I want to clear up any unknowns lingering in your head and fend off any hesitations you have.

Why do we offer a Free Consultation and a Free Case Review?
We have decided to offer both of these services as they each are tailored to specific situations and claim types. Free Consultation always comes first. After this, we may be able to determine based on your specific situation that you only need general advice and aren’t in need of representation yet. Perhaps our support team deems your claim isn’t something we can dispute or you’re at a stage we cannot handle. We may determine your case is a perfect fit without further evaluation and we can offer representation right away. In these situations, you would not be in need of a Case Review at all.
Please be aware it is not as common to be able to offer representation right off the bat. We often need to do further evaluation. If a Free Case Review is offered, it doesn’t mean your case isn’t good. It simply means we need more information and a second set of eyes to lend their professional opinion before moving forward.
We realized we needed a strategic option for separate services. We created these separate services for the very reason that we saw the need coming up time and time again. When we see the need, we try to build out options for those who would fit the mold. You can be assured that if you are only offered one or both, we have made the recommendation best suited to your needs based on our knowledge.
What’s offered in a Free Consultation?
You may request this service directly in a form on our website. You can also reach out to us via telephone. A member of our reception or support team will attempt to transfer you for a call right away if someone is available. Typically, they will set you up for a call with our disability claims consultant at a later date. They gather more information on your specific situation. This is so we can make a better assessment of what capacity we can offer to help. They can offer basic, general advice based on scenarios and not very specific to your case where we have limited information on your claim and cannot tell you what to do exactly/assume responsibility for advising you on what to do. This is not a legal advice session.
The Free Consultation calls generally last 20 minutes, maximum. We do have lots of other callers throughout the day. So, we have to cap our calls at a specific time limit to enable sufficient time for everyone.
We typically deliver the Free Consultations within 24-48 business working hours of your booking. However, if you call or book on a weekend, that can affect the timeline. This is because we currently are not operating during those days for consultations. Of course, this 1-2 day booking will also differ if you select a time and date further out in our calendar based on your own availability.
You will first always need to start with the Free Consultation call for us to better understand your situation. From there, our Support Team will know if your situation fits into the criteria for a Free Case Review. If you qualify for a Case Review, we will make that recommendation if we can’t make an offer for hiring right off the bat.
There is no cost for either of these services, so the cost doesn’t need to be a limiting factor. You can make your decision to call and receive advice from our team without worrying about the price.
What’s offered in a Free Case Review?
We offer Free Case Reviews for people who have received a denial of disability benefits or anticipate soon receiving a denial.
You would start with a Free Consultation with our support team. They will gather your information and arrange for our lawyers to give you a Free Case Review. In some cases, we will order a copy of your claim file from the insurance company or government agency. We give you the file when the review is finished.
We do all case reviews online or by phone. A case review usually involves 2-3 phone calls with our support team. This is because we need to gather information first and then get back to you with the results of the review.
Even though this is a free service, we do require you to hire us under a limited retainer agreement. We do this so our advice will be 100% confidential and protected by lawyer-client privilege. After we finish the review, you have no obligation to hire us, and there are no fees or charges. If we are to offer representation, then you would sign a separate fee agreement to retain us as your representation at that time. In those cases, fee structuring would certainly be discussed before sending/signing.
The Case Review varies much more in the length of time. This is due to several factors, as mentioned above. Depending on your specific claim, it usually involves 2-3 phone calls with our support team. Sometimes we require time to gather documentation. And, of course, we need to find time in our lawyers’ schedules to review the material. After the lawyers do the review, they get back to our support team with the advice and decision they have made. The Free Case Review starts within 24 hours of you agreeing to the service and signing off on the limited retainer agreement for us to get to work.
Keep in mind
Resolute Legal is not your hired full representation at this time. We are still investigating your claim and decide if it is something we can take on. We aren’t responsible yet for making any submissions on deadlines during this type of review. Our lawyers will then review your claim. We will answer your specific questions, point out any deadlines, and explain what you need to do to maximize your chances of success.
As the Operations Manager here at Resolute Legal, I can assure you that we have built a knowledgeable support team. They know how to best serve you based on our services and the claim types we can help with. If there is something they aren’t sure about, or if you are seeking more than general advice, they will know the right service to offer you. We meet daily with our support team, so if anything should come up out of the ordinary that they can’t answer right away, I can assure you that they will get back to you as soon as another member of our team has helped them find the answer.
Our mission is to alleviate the stress and looming questions you may have about your ongoing claim. Now that you know the difference between a Free Consultation and a Free Case Review, I hope you have gathered enough intel and remedied any concerns. You can rest assured that we will do our best to help you if your specific claim is something we can help with or provide you with general advice or referral to someone who can if we have knowledge of someone better suited to assist you along your journey. I hope that we are a great fit and that we can be the first step towards the end of your stressful claim journey.
